Can I choose anyone as my beneficiary?

Yes.

If you designate your estate as beneficiary, you must have a valid will to ensure benefits are paid promptly and in accordance with your wishes.

Industrial Alliance is not responsible for the validity of any beneficiary designation.

How do I choose my beneficiary?

Simply complete the Participation Request form and return it to Industrial Alliance.

What happens if I do not choose a beneficiary?

Benefits will then be payable according to your will, after your estate has been settled.

If you do not have a will, benefits will be payable to your estate.

Can I change my beneficiary?

That depends, as follows:

If you made your current beneficiary designation …	You can change your beneficiary …
Revocable	Anytime you wish
Irrevocable	ONLY if you have your current beneficiary's written consent Note: If you reside in Quebec and designate your legal spouse as your beneficiary, the designation is automatically irrevocable, unless you specifically make it revocable when you first designate him or her.

Here's what you need to do to change beneficiary:

If your designation is irrevocable, obtain a written consent from your current beneficiary.
Complete the Participation Request form.
Send the form and the written consent from your current beneficiary, if applicable, to Industrial Alliance.
